1 August 09: BRFC Golf Day OUTSTANDING SUCCESS
The Golf Day held at the Canford School course proved both highly competitive and enjoyable. The top three teams were separated by two points with the team skippered by Club Captain Jon Sanchez eventually running out winners. Jon's team included the father and son combination of Chris and Dan Cawley proving that not only is Dan a fearsome back row forward but also no mean golfer. The team was completed by Roger Tonkin father of former 1st XV winger Jonno Tonkin who also won the best individual round prize.
The best front nine went to club sponsor Mike Stokes and ensuring that the day was not too much of a closed shop the best back nine went to Alan Rowles who is also a generous sponsor of the club.
In the longest drive and nearest the pin competitiions former cricketers Mo Haniff and Keith Balmer sneaked in for the silverware.
The day finished on a high with catering par excellence overseen by Junior and his Samoan pig roast.
Although enjoyment was the prime objective the contribution to club funds was an added bonus.
With many thanks to all participants who braved the wet conditions typical of this years English summer and particular thanks to those volunteers who ensured the success of the day.
The date for next years event will be posted shortly and all prize winners are committed to defend their titles.
