Bournemouth Lions sponsored by
Wood of Bournemouth
Bournemouth RFC P v P Chippenham RFC.
Match postponed. Unfit pitch. A referee inspection early Saturday
morning confirmed our worst fears that the pitch was waterlogged and frozen to
boot! Earliest opportunity for the game to be played is 2nd February but
Chippenham have an outstanding league game against Cheltenham to fit in
which will take priority. So watch this space!

Bournemouth RFC 2nd
XV
In the Canterbury Shield, the Nomads put their failure to score last week behind
them to run in five tries to win very handsomely against the Esher Development
side 37-5. Rye Buffery, back from New Zealand at Christmas, scored
Bournemouth’s third hat-trick in two weeks and the impressive lock, Callum
Forrest, dived over wide out to open the scoring on his debut. Ex-1st XV centre
Neil Dallyn also showed typical strength to force his way over midway through
the second half. Jon Sanchez at fly-half made a welcome return to rugby having
now recovered from his ankle injury sustained against Richmond last March. He
kicked three conversions and two penalties as his scoring contribution.

Newcomer Callum quickly showed what a good player he is with some great
jumping in the line-out to secure some good ball and organizing some impressive
forward drives. Set-piece scrummaging also embarrassed the visitors on a
number of occasions. With centre Daryl Puzas showing typical determination in
defence with his strong tackling and some mazy runs kept the Esher defence on
their toes. Andy Edwards also returned after a long absence, coming on as a
replacement for Ed Strickland, and had a couple of typical strong runs down the
left wing. A much better performance after such a flat feeling last week.
