March 24th Youth and Mini club day /Come and Support the 1st XV which could be a league decider,More details to follow soon

Our aim in the 'Mini/Midi and Youth' section of BRFC is to encourage children (boys & girls) from 6 to 16, from all backgrouns, to enjoy an active, outdoor sport with the emphasis on safety, fun, sportsmanship and the development of skills. If, after all that, we can win a few matches then great – in fact, we've been extremely successful ‘on the pitch’ over the past few years, across all the age groups; a record we look forward to maintaining in the future.

We meet at Bournemouth Sports Club (Chapel Gate near Hurn Airport) at 10am each Sunday morning (girls U15/U18 at 1pm) throughout the season - from the first Sunday in September through to the end of April - regardless of the weather (excepting severe frost or waterlogged pitches). The older age groups also train midweek under floodlights: under-12 to under-16 on Wednesdays at 6:30pm.

About Mini & Youth Rugby

How is the club run?

The Mini & Youth section is run entirely by volunteers, most of whom are parents of players. Without their generous efforts, there would be no Mini & Youth rugby! This is where YOU come in. All parents are encouraged to get involved in the club, even if only in a small way.

Please note that for safety reasons, parents / guardians are expected to remain on site while their child is playing.

Each age group has a team manager, a head coach, several assistant coaches & referee.

The mini & youth section has it's own committee, which meets once a month, to discuss issues arising & work towards keeping the club running smoothly. For a list of committee members see the contacts list.

If you would like to raise an issue at a meeting please speak to your child's team manager.

 WHOLE CLUB DEVELOPMENT PLAN

The club's governing body is the Rugby Football Union.

How to Join / Registration

Your are welcome to come down to a free coaching session so your child can get a feel for the game & you can get to meet the people already involved at the club, with no obligation. Please contact the manager of the age group your child will be playing in for more details.

However, before any players can play in a match, they must be registered with the club (handed in their completed registration form & paid their subs) - NO EXCEPTIONS.

For more information see the registrations page.

Safety & Child Welfare

Bournemouth RFC takes the safety of all its players very seriously. We have a Child Welfare Officer. All coaches, referees, team mangers & Mini/Youth committee members have been CRB checked. At coaching & home matches we are very fortunate to have the services of a full medical team. As part of the formal coaches' & referee's training, it is made clear that the players' safety is to be taken above all else.

Can Girls play rugby?

Absolutely! Girls are very much welcome to join the club. Up to & including the U12's (year 8), girls play rugby in the same team as the boys. After that, the girls split from the boys & play in the girls' U15's team & thereafter in the girls' U18's team. The club would very much like to expand the girls' teams & any player recruitment opportinities would be of interest.

The Game

Bournemouth RFC follows the RFU Rugby Continuum. This is a structured approch to gradually introducing elements of the game from U7's non-contact tag rugby to the full 15-a-side game at U13's. As the players progress through the age groups, the level of physical contact, number of players, pitch size, skills required & complexity of the game increase.

The season runs from September to April.

Rugby's Core Values

“Teamwork – Discipline – Respect – Sportsmanship – Enjoyment”

One of the great appeals of rugby is its core values, both on and off the pitch. In order to maintain this ethos it is everyone's responsibility (coaches, players, parents, supporters etc.) to maintain these values, encourage others to do so & challenge those who do not exhibit them.

Club Shop

The club operates a kit shop in the club house, which sells a variety of club branded items, such as players' tops, shorts, socks as well as supporters' items such as women's jackets & men's storm jackets. For more details see the Club Shop web page or pop in to the shop.

Sponsorship

The club also relies on sponsorhip. If you are able to offer any sponsorship or you are aware of any sponsorship opportunities please contact a member of the Mini & Youth committee.
