Touch Rugby has got off to a great start at BRFC, since the start of October 2013. We welcome everyone to come along and try it out – it’s free for the first couple of sessions. Training is Thursday night from 7pm to 8.30pm and then into the bar. Our aim is for it to be as light hearted as possible and as much about the fitness and social, as about the rugby. We hope it will have a much broader appeal and attract new members to the club. We welcome adult men and women of all ages, fitness levels and touch rugby experience.
Touch Rugby appeals to sports enthusiasts and those looking for an alternative way of keeping fit through a fun game, which needs only a ball and a few jumpers for corner flags. In England, the popularity of touch has grown rapidly and it is now played by more than 15,000 adults across the country as a sport in its own right. This fast, simple and exciting game promotes the fundamental skills of running, handling, evasion and support play, while developing basic principles of attack and defence, without the fear of getting hurt. Experienced players and coaches are always available to help beginners and less experienced players, plus new players enjoy a pre-game induction.
Basic Rules of Touch Rugby
• Non-contact, removing elements such as scrums, rucks, mauls, lineouts and kicks
